acting for and on behalf of The Government of Hong Kong (hereinafter called the Government)
one part and Lancelot Ernest

in the county of Surrey

of Camberwell of the other part:
Whereby it is agreed by and between the parties hereto as follows:-
The said Lancelot Ernest Brett (hereinafter called the person engaged) is hereby selected for appointment as a Junior Wardmaster in the Government Civil Hospital at Hong Kong on the terms and conditions hereinafter set forth.

The term of engagement shall be Three years from the date of the arrival in Hong Kong of the person engaged which period the Government shall be at liberty to extend as
liberty to extend as hereinafter provided in Clause 10 by giving notice to the person engaged three months previous to the expiration of the aforesaid period of Three years.
The person engaged shall proceed to Hong Kong at such time as shall be prescribed by the Crown Agents for the Colonies the Government providing him with a Free passage Second class including Railway fare Third class to Port of Embarkation and (subject to Clause 7) back again to England.
on the expiration of this Agreement provided he leaves for England within a period of One month
